Saying No to Hate

Ron DeSantis brought his message of hate to Elmhurst, so about three hundred of us went to Elmhurst to say no to hate. Although we set up across the street from the Knights of Columbus hall where DeSantis was speaking, and the police had set up barriers to ensure that we would not enter the line of those waiting to go in, they still brought up a line of cops to line the street right in front of our protest. Yet another example of how police provoke people instead of engaging in de-escalation. I have many, many photos of protests over the past years, but I decided to pull only a few photos from when Trump brought his message of hate to Chicago in October 2019 – the only visit he made to Chicago while he was President.  There were thousands of us there then to say get out of our house.

Provocative Police. First the police formed this line even though we were all on the sidewalk. Then they pushed their bikes even closer to us and at least two cops dropped their bikes into the crowd. Taken across from the Knight of Columbus 1911 Club on York Rd. in Elmhurst on February 20, 2023
