October 22

Today was the very last postcard party – and was more party than postcards since all we had to do was put stamps on the last of them. We enjoyed the evening with some friends – and did put on some stamps.

2020: Postcards. Taken on Hamlin between Argyle and Ainslie in Chicago. We have now collected most of the 350,000 postcards that we had distributed, and now it is time to get them ready to take to the post office. I had to pause for a minute and think about the thousands of volunteers who took time to hand write these postcards because they have faith in our democracy. They all have different handwriting; some were done in ink of different colors, and some even had drawings. These are just a very, very small sample of the postcards in dozens of boxes in my basement alone.
2018: Through the bus window. Taken on Foster just between Western and Ashland in Chicago. Foster Ave. is certainly not Lawrence I walked from home to Clark Street over 3 miles and there was much less of interest than on 3 blocks of Lawrence Ave.
2016: A monster in the woods. Taken on the Pyramid Point Trail in Sleeping Bear Dunes in Leelanau County, MI. I was walking along the Pyramid Point Trail and saw this piece of bark from a Birch tree setting on a tree stump. I don’t know if it was there by chance or is someone put it there, and I don’t know if those are really eyes and mouth of just random holes in the bark -- or maybe it is really a monster in the woods.
2012: Ticket patrol. Taken at Clark Street and Farragut.
