One more full day of canvassing in Michigan. Today we were in Plainwell and the northern part of Kalamazoo County. When we finished our first two lists – they called us and gave us one more. It was a good day for me. Women who were excited about voting, and some who seemed concerned about the men in their lives. The difference has been obvious on the doors, that we have felt a little apprehension when a woman was on our list, and it was a man who answered. On one of those doors today, a guy answered and I wasn't sure what to expect since we were in a pretty white, working class neighborhood. But he told me that Trump was "ape shit crazy" and we must have spent five minutes talking about the people who would vote for him. He worked in heating and cooling and talked about his co-workers and how people fall for a cult of personality. He was voting on Tuesday, along with everyone in his and his wife's family – all voting for Harris.
2020:Count Every Vote. Taken at Daley Plaza on Washington between Dearborn and Clark in Chicago. They are still counting votes, but they are being counted. This evening things feel a little better than they did this morning. We gathered downtown to defend the election and protect every vote.2018: This is not what democracy should look like. Taken at the Starbucks on US47 north of I90 in Huntley, IL. We were canvassing in IL14 Congressional District today and met at a Starbuck's to pick up lit and lists. I guess our clipboards were disturbing because the manager called the police. I can only imagine what would have happened if the vast majority of us had not been white and we had not skewed to a more mature age. This is not what democracy should look like. 2016:If an army marches on its stomach -- ours marches on candy and Twizzlers. Taken at the Hampton Inn near Collins and Council in Cedar Rapids, Iowa2012:A lonely bridge at twilight. Taken on Knapp St and Water at the Milwaukee River in Milwaukee, WI.
