2024: Who Knows? Taken at Lincoln and Western in Chicago.

I did a quick walk up to Walgreens and came across this. I have no idea what it is or why it was at the foot of the Lincoln statue. On a very different note – four years ago today was the first protest over the murder of George Floyd. I took so many photos over those weeks of protest and pandemic - some will show up over these days four years ago, and there are so many others. There was so much determination, anger, and emotion, and four years later so little has changed.

2020: Black Lives Matter. Taken on State Street between Roosevelt and Harrison in Chicago. Despite the pandemic, the murder of George Floyd led to protests in Minneapolis and today in Chicago. We joined the car caravan from 26th and Michigan towards the Loop. We never made into downtown spending at least 40 minutes between Roosevelt and Harrison. In spite of the being in a car, the passion, anger and determination of the protest was clear. The intense protest and the police attack came later in the Loop. The City called a curfew, shut down public transportation and lifted the bridges - making the River a moat to keep people out of downtown and to trap protesters inside with the police.
2018: Everything is good with a book and music. Taken on the Brown Line EL platform at Chicago in Chicago
2016: As calm as it gets on Lake Michigan. Taken on Lake Michigan between Leone Beach (Touhy) and Montrose Beach. The first Lake Michigan paddle of the year. Beautiful.
2012: Applause. Taken on the floor of the SEIU Convention in Denver CO
