2024: Say Gay. Taken at Sidetrack on Halsted just south of Roscoe in Chicago.

We attended a LGBTQ+ hosted fundraiser for US Representative Delia Ramirez today at Sidetrack. The bar is an institution in Chicago having opened in 1982, a few years before I arrived in Chicago. Its owners Art and Pepe are also instituions, helping lead many of the LGBTQ fights for rights over the years, and they remain active today. Delia of course says Gay and has been a strong voice on progressive issues in DC, although why she wants to be in Congress is still a mystery to me.

2020: 8pm and making some noise. Taken on Clinton just north of Lexington in Oak Park, IL. In some neighborhoods - 8pm is a time when people come out and show solidarity: sometimes by singing and sometimes by just making noise. In some neighborhoods it has never caught on, in others it is sporadic and in some it remains a regular occurrence. We were walking in Oak Park and came along a block that continues t do it.
2018: People. Taken on Front Street in Traverse City, Michigan. After days of seeing and posting photos of birds, porcupines, and trees, I went to Traverse City today. It was chilly, but that didn’t stop people from being out in the sun.
2016: An art project for our Assembly. Taken in Cobo Hall in Detroit, MI
2012: Cleaning under the tracks. Taken on Broadway Ave at Leland.
