Lucy's Place has been the LGBTQ bar in Johnstown since the mid 1970's. The bar itself has been there much longer, maybe once The New Yorker or the Rathskeller. I had long know about it, but never went there until Mony and I visted Johnstown in 2021. Since then we make sure that we make a stop on every visit to Johnstown. It is mostly very quiet, and we learn more about the history of the bar and about the Queer community in Johnstown with every visit. This year the bar tender told us about the Johnstown Pride in downtown on June 22. Places like this are such an important part of our commuity. I am glad to still see it here after all these years – even without my patronage most of them! And I am especially happy to visit when we are there.

2020: Mother’s Day in 2020. Taken on Oak Park Ave. just north of Lexington in Oak Park, IL. I went for a short walk between the rain. Here a family was doing its best to celebrate Mother’s Day from a distance. Each of the kids took turns with a mask to give a hub -- and a cello was there to provide some music.
2018: Synchronized window washing. Taken on Racine between Randolph and Madison in Chicago. Well, they are not exactly synchronized, but this is the closest that they got.
2016: In his own world. Taken on the yellow Metro line on the way to National Airport in Washington D
2012: Flowers. Taken on the Blvd of the Americas (6th Ave.) between 30th and 18th in New York City
