March 3

I am usually pretty literal (some would say to a fault) – so I usually see things as they are, not as what I might imagine them to be. But every once in a while, my imagination can take over. This most certainly looks like The Scream to me, but rather it is a wasps' nest. Then again, maybe a wasp nest inspired The Scream.

2020: Checking out the chickens. Taken on School just west of Broadway in Chicago. The Nettlehorst school has a coop of chickens that the students care for and watch -- and so do I when I go to and from Unabridged Book
2018: Muxeres en la Lucha -- and their allies. Taken in Pilsen at Loomis and Blue Island in Chicago. I was on my way to a meeting in Pilsen and came across this small but very energetic protest against gentrification in the community.
2016: It is a nice city - even if it is snowing. Taken on St. Clair St. and Ontario in Chicago. I took this photo as he was picking up trash cans near Northwestern Memorial Hospital. My experience is that street and sans guys aren’t too keen to get there photo taken. However I was waiting for the light to change and he asked me if I was from Chicago. I said that I was. He told me that he had been working in the area for 17 years, and too often he doesn’t look up. But yesterday he saw someone taking photos and it made him look up and remember what a beautiful city it is. We both agreed it will look even better when spring comes.
2012: Guarding the bridge. Taken at the Chicago River and Division Street
