2024: About Face. Taken at the Center on Halsted on Halsted and Waveland.

Today's photo was taken a book launch for About Face: Stonewall, Revolt, and New Queer Art – and both the book and the panel were great. But on a different note, although I at times remember clearly taking a photo from past years, most of the time this is nothing particularly significant about the date. But there are exceptions to that. One of the earlier posts, from February 2, 2018, was notable as my last day at SEIU. And there will be November dates coming up. Today's post from 2020 is one of the dates – the first photo as things began shutting down from COVID. Actually it was the the photo from March 11, 2020 that I remember better. We sat in a crowded room watching a middle school concert wondering if we really should be there and wondering if there would be school on Monday. There was no school and it would be a long time before we were in a space like that again.

2020: Things are slowing down. Taken on the bridge at Home Ave. over the Eisenhower Expressway in Oak Park. The trains are running and there is still some traffic, but schools are starting to close and there is an unease about everything.
2018: Protection for All. Taken at Amundsen High School at Damen and Foster in Chicago. I usually prefer candid photos -- but I thought this one best demonstrated the power, conviction and determination of the these Chicagoans covered by DACA who are speaking out and fighting for Protection for All immigrants.
2016: Working as a team. Taken on Kedvale just north of Lawrence in Chicago
2012: Waiting for spring to catch up with the warm weather. Taken in Peterson Park
