2024: On the Barge. Taken on the Mississippi River in East Moline, Illinois.

We finished up the morning with Prairie Rivers Network (PRN) on the barge on the Mississippi River. This was artwork on the rail of the barge that was owned and used by Living Lands and Water for River and environmental education. While it was in East Moline now, it was going to be leaving shortly to travel and stop along the River as a classroom. Earlier this morning before meeting up at the barge, I went and saw about 50 White Pelicans on the River. They were great, but too far away to get any decent photos with the lens that I had. The barge was fine in the morning but the wind and current picked up on the River after we left and while PRN's staff continued to meet – until they started getting sea sick!

2020: No Excuse for This. Taken on Division just west of Larrabee Street in Chicago. This photo says so much to me. We joined a large march from Union Park to Division. As we marched east and had completed about three quarters of the march we came to the precinct building. More than 200 cops were lined up in front of the building in something that was clearly intended to be a show of force. Their arrogance and fuck you attitude is so clear from this photo -- with almost no cops even wearing masks. In front was a lone marshall calmly standing with a shirt that declares “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” 20,000 to 30,000 protested marched past those cops and refused to be prevoked while making it clear that “silent cops are guilty too.”
2018: Cotton Candy. Taken on Lawrence between Hamlin and Central Park in Chicago. This photo speaks for itself.
2016: Iris Farm. Take along M72 between Traverse City and Cedar Rd in Leelanau County, MI. I have drive by this farm many times and always wondered what one did with an iris farm as I looked at green or brown plants. This time after a long drive to Leelanau I was on the home stretch and I looked over at the iris farm as I drove by -- and the irises were all in bloom. I had to go back and take photos. They must bloom for about 1 week a year!
2012: Let me fix your collar. Taken on High St. in Dublin, Ireland
