2024:Chimse at the WH. Taken on the South Lawn of the White House in Washington DC.
As Deputy Director of Equality Illinois, Mony was invited to the White House Pride celebration in DC. I was already going to be in DC for an NWF meeting, so Mony was able to get a +1 so I could join her at the WH. I am having lots of conflicting and mixed feelings about the recent things that the administration has been doing on immigration and Gaza especially. On the other hand, the way this election year is going, it may be a long time before people like us get invited to the White House again, which is the least of what we will have to be concerned with. So, we took advantage of the invitation to join a great event with so many LGBTQ+ leaders and to hear from the First Lady. We were joined by other leaders of Equality Illinois and here, Mony and Myles Brady-Davis were sharing some chisme.
2020: No place for a kayak. Taken somewhere on I-196 south of Grand Rapids, MI. We were on our way back from Leelanau, and I suddenly noticed that they kayak on the car was moving way more than it should. We pulled to the side of the road and saw that the rack on the top of the car had pulled lose. After taking the kayak and bike off the car -- Mony drove it to REI in Grand Rapids in the hope that they could help get it back on or at least tell her how to do it. She was successful -- which was good since there was no plan B. Me -- I sat at the side of the road with the kayak and waited.2018: Smoke Break. Taken on Randolph between Wabash and Michigan in Chicago.2016: Love Conquers Hate. Taken at the Stonewall Inn in New York City. OK, I am breaking the rule here. I did take photos on Sunday and I was going to use one of them as the photo here. But they were not Pride focused since I didn’t go to the Pride parade in Chicago. But on Monday, I was in NYC near the Village and walked over to the Stonewall Inn which had just become a National Monument. So I figured it was OK just this one time to use a photo taken on Monday as the Photo for Pride Day on Sunday.2016: Hanging On. Taken near DuPont Circle in Washington DC.
