2024: Pride in the Rain. Taken on East State Street in Rockford, IL

Pride events are held all over Illinois in small towns and big cities. Equality Illinois tries to get out to as many as they can. Today we opened Pride Month by going to Rockford, which held its first Pride Parade. It rained the whole time, but people were excited to be in the parade and to watch. These two figured out how to watch without getting wet. It was a great day!

2020: Tense Streets. Taken on Lawrence Ave. between Kimball and Kedzie in Chicago. The rumors and fear of violence - and in some neighborhoods break ins and fires - have led building owners in many neighborhoods including Albany Park to board up their windows. It is hard to now where there might have been damange and where buisnesses put up boards as a preventative measure. Either way they add to the tension on the streets - while people still contend with masks and social distancing.
2018: Peonies. Taken on Lawrence Ave between Kimball and Kedzie in Chicago. After being in the house all day, I took a walk as it was starting to get dark needing both some activity and a photo. This woman was holding her flowers and waiting for a bus. I took a not very good photo -- then asked if I could take some more. Usually I prefer the candid photos that I take, but today I loved her smile with the flowers.
2016: Nutrition. Taken on Lawrence just east of Central Park.
2012: First one out of school. Taken at the Sauganash Elementary School
