2024: Visiting Our Favorite Place. Taken on the pier at Montrose Point in Chicago.

When a dear friend comes to visit for the weekend --there is always the question of where to take them. Denise was the RA in my dorm in my freshman year at Michigan State - so, we have known each other a long time. And Denise has been to Chicago before. So what better place to go than our favorite place in Chicago – Montrose point! We showed her where we got married, walked along the lakefront and through the bird sactuary, and of course, went out to the pier to introduce her to Imani and Nagamo who made their appearance for us! I think that Denise was as delighted as we were. It was just a perfect day!

2020: Across the porches. Taken on Home Ave between Lexington and Harvard in Oak Park, IL. I took a photo like this in one of the other years -- but in Albany Park. Today it is very similar photo -- but in Oak Park.
2018: But we want them to throw us the ball. Taken at PNC Park in Pittsburgh PA. I went to the Pirate game with my brother Sam. Every inning these boys ran down to the fence to see if a player would throw them them ball between innings. It was not a good location for that -- since the balls all went to the outfield kids. But it reminded me of the time that Julia and I went to Milwaukee to see the Pirates and sat right behind the Pirate dugout. Julia must have been around 10 and was dressed in all of her Pirate gear that I had bought for her. Twice players threw the ball to her. A photo of her hold in the ball is still one of my favorites --- and I remember captioning it “If only I could always help make someone this happy.” It was taken on September 2, 2012 and was a photo of the day.
2016: Tall ship, small kayak, beautiful City. Taken on Lake Michigan at Navy Pier in Chicago. The only hard part today was picking which photo I wanted to post here. 5 of us paddled from Diversey Harbor to Navy Pier to see the Tall Ships there. It was a beautiful sunset and paddling at night is always exciting. It doesn’t get any better than that -- and the tall ships were very cool.
2012: And the garden takes over. Taken at the Peterson Garden Project's Global Garden at Lawrence and Sacramento
