January 14

This doesn't happen every year. It takes very cold air temperatures that happen suddenly while the Lake water is unfrozen and relatively warm in comparison to the frigid air – to create water vapor over the Lake. I knew that would happen this morning when the air temperature was -6 (and the wind chill was -30) and there was no ice on the Lake since the temperatures had pretty consistently been above freezing this winter. The sunny morning and the Lake didn't disappoint us.
