The Seventh Circuit heard oral arguments today in the case brought by the Bad River Band of the Lake Superior Chippewa against Embridge over the company's illegal trespass on Tribal lands with their Line 5 pipeline. The National Wildlife Federation has been campaigning to shut down Line 5 and showed up to support the Band in federal court. After the argument, Indigenous leaders and their attorney met with media to talk about their fight to defend their Tribal sovereignty, water, and land – and to protect all of the Great Lakes. In this photo are Bay Mills Indian Community President Whitney Gravelle, Bad River Band Chairman Robert Blanchard, and Band attorney Riyaz Kanji.
