Chuy Garcia is running for Mayor of Chicago. I support him, I am helping elect him and then I will work to hold him accountable. We have a real opportunity to elect a progressive candidate who understands that to make real change, you have to build coalitions and work across communities. He has shown that he knows how to build power and to use it to govern. He is accountable to community and the progressive movement, but is also independent and not beholden to any one or handful of organizations. He has created space for other strong progressive leaders – especially women. We need to win elections to create a more just, equitable and sustainable City – and Chuy can win this election and make the changes we need and want. No candidates are perfect – which is why we work to elect the best of them and then work hard to hold them accountable.
