March 6 The Old Town School of Folk music offers all kinds of music classes and I walk past there all of the time. I am always looking for the good photo of someone with their instrument – maybe something big like a cello, but I never get a good shot. This was
March 5 Sometimes when you only have a short time and there doesn't look like there is anything to photograph – suddenly something shows up.
March 3 I am usually pretty literal (some would say to a fault) – so I usually see things as they are, not as what I might imagine them to be. But every once in a while, my imagination can take over. This most certainly looks like The Scream to me, but rather
March 2 No ice on the Lake and winter storms brings in a lot of stones onto beaches in Michigan. And that brings out the people that collect them.
March 1 We had to get up early to get a photo with a dusting of snow before it melted. Mostly things were brown and gray – but as the sign at 9 Bean Bakery stated: "The ground may be dull and grey, but there is a party underground just waiting to
February 29 There won't be many photos of coffee shops in 2024 – since I am the barista at home making our lattes every morning. Since I can't take photos while making the espresso – there is no action shot. And since leap year comes every four years – there is
February 28 As our February weather is most definitely feeling like spring, the workers are barely keeping up as they remove what is left of the winter/holiday greenery. But a look at the past photos shows that this is not the first winter with warm February days.
February 26 It shouldn't be in the 70's on February 26th – not that we have had much of a winter at all. But it is hard to complain when you get to take an afternoon walk downtown on the way to a meeting. These are my two favorite
February 24 Departure day from Barcelona. We had a morning flight – so the only opportunity for a photo was the early morning trip to the bakery for our last Spanish baguettes and croissants.
February 23 In the narrow streets of Barcelona, scooters of all kinds were the preferrred ways of getting around. Sometimes it would be parents with their kids – but other times the kids were on their own.
February 22 We took a day trip from Barcelona to the Delta del Llobregat to look for flamingos and then to the coastal town of Sitges. There were a lot of different photos to choose from and some stories with those photos – and yes, we found the flamingos. But I couldn'
February 21 Park Guell is my favorite Gaudi location in Barcelona. It is all about whimsy combined with nature. Everyone takes photos all of the time, including us.
February 20 There are not very many green spaces in Barcelona at least not in the more central areas. Since everything is brick and it is mostly dry, daily street cleaning is pretty essential. I even asked Emma about it since I wanted to know when and how it was done. This
February 19 Each morning in Barcelona, I went out and "hunted and gathered" our breakfast finding coffee and wonderful pastries and bread. I also used that time to look for photos. Almost everywhere, the worst jobs are being done by immigrants - and Barcelona was no different.
February 18 Mony's cousin and her family live in Barcelona. When we told them that we would be visiting, the invited us to dinner at their home and treated us to a Catalan tradition of the Calçotada – where calçots, a special Catalan spring onion, are grilled, peeled and then served
February 17 First day in Barcelona. Shortly after arriving and finding our place, we walked along the Rambla del Ravel on our way to dinner. It was fitting that one of the first things we saw was this Palestinian protest.
February 16 Airports can be wonderful places to take photos: lots of people, sometimes doing interesting things, and rarely paying any attention. For some reason this guy figured it was OK to unload and reorganize his bags right in the middle of the the busy hallway.
February 15 Just when I thought that nothing interesting was happening today, I came across all the activity from a photo shoot. I never got this posted before a lot of travel. I am back now, so a lot of photos to catch up on!
February 14 You would never know from these photos that they were taken on Valentines Day! Looking through the window of the Caro Mio Restaurant, they were getting ready for a big restaurant day. We made dinner together at home.
February 12 There is probably no street where I have taken more photos than on Lawrence Ave. Something is always happening especially on the stretch between Pulaski and Kedzie. These daysI need to be more intentionally to go there, and this is not one of my better photos – but I'll
