April 25 As I was walking through Wells Park, I saw these kids with their kites. Then as I crossed to walk home, they walked towards Gideon Wells. The kites had to be tamed before entering the restaurant.
April 24 The American Avocet is one of my favorite birds. (I have many birds that are favorites!) I love its colors but especially its upturned beak. We have seen a few when we were birdwatching in Texas and a single avocet at Montrose beach last year, but never in a group
April 23 It was one of those days when the weather changed every 30 minutes. I saw her working outside and thought I should do that, but by the time I got home it was raining again. PS. I am back after a couple of weeks of travel. So look for lots
April 22 To celebrate Earth Day and to inaugurate Kim into birdwatching, we went to Montrose Bird Sanctuary – not that we ever need an excuse to go there. There were not so many birds today – but there were so many insects that they formed clouds above the trees. Where there are lots
April 21 We had a wonderful dinner with fabulous friends while we did not celebrate my birthday. Mony makes the best paella, and Mona served it. The food and wine and conversation were all too good to think much about taking many photos, but I did take this one.
April 20 I only had time for a few quick photos on our way to a great dinner and then a play at Steppenwolf.
April 19 I took a long walk to Unabridged Bookstore and walked past Wrigley Field. It was in the latter innings of a Cubs game – so most fans were still there. However, outside all of the bars were getting ready for the after game crowd, including this one that seems to have
April 18 You can barely tell from these photos – but today is my Birthday. Mony and Liam took me to dinner, and because it was my birthday, Liam said he would be my valet. He held the umbrella for me, but once we got to the car, he couldn't figure
April 16 There wasn't much happening outside today, until I got to Lincoln Square. The guy with the bubbles caught my eye, but as usual, its the kids that make the photo.
April 15 Everytime we go to the Montrose Bird Sanctuary, Mony has a pocketful of seeds for the birds. The chickadees are pretty dependable – they almost always show up for a treat. But the cardinals and red winged blackbirds are much more wary and it takes much more patience to get them
April 14 I feel like it has been a little while since I took a photo that I really love – and this is one of those. As soon as I saw the two of them sitting there reading, I didn't hesitate to move closer and take the photo. I guess
April 13 It was a most beautiful spring day – but that didn't keep up for going inside to the launch of Q Force – Queer volunteers who are going to save democracy by getting people to vote Democratic in Michigan and Wisconsin. That is also what Indivisible Chicago will again be
April 12 It was colder and windier at the Lake than we expected. And the birds were mostly hiding, at least from us. But between the rain and dark skies, the sun kept popping out. And as the caption to the photo says – those are exactly the colors of the the sky
April 10 Usually we can find the torillerias because we are out walking and we can hear the squeaky sound made by the machines as they make the tortillas. Today, we found this tortilleria when we saw people waiting in line to buy the tortillas as we were on our way to
April 9 We didn't have much time today, but we still found time to go to the main Plaza in Aguascalientes and had a quick dinner nearby. Everyone was setting up for the Feria Nacional de San Marcos, which is the big festival that starts in a few days. Again,
April 8 We spent the day working – but like everyone else in the path of the solar eclipse, we donned our glasses and went out to watch the moon and the sun. We were at about 91% coverage – so not in the path of totality. So it was about the same as
April 7 Between visits to see Mony's father, we visited her grandmother at her uncle's. This is the view from the balcony off of her grandmother's bedroom. Such a lovely view. From other visits, I took many photos of the garden and the tropical plants, succulants,
April 6 We made a sudden trip to Aguascalientes, Mexico to see Mony's father who was hospitalized. Since I didn't even take my camera out at the airports – the photo is from our visit.
April 5 The best coffee beans in Chicago can be found at Bru Coffeeworks on Lawrence. We go there once a week to buy freshly roasted beans. Today, there was a line as I waited my turn.
April 4 I took an early morning walk today, and there were quite a few people out and about – and for a change, a few photos to pick from. I watched the guy on the street directing the one in the truck - and it is easier being the one telling someone
April 2 I took a walk to Andersonville today and stopped at the corner of Ashland and Foster to wait for the light to change. I saw that someone was standing at the corner to cross the toher way, and turned to see if there was a photo to take. When I
April 1 There was just a few minutes to take Mia and my camera out before the rain started. Fortunately at the end our block I got this photo at the little free library.
