May 20 We attended a LGBTQ+ hosted fundraiser for US Representative Delia Ramirez today at Sidetrack. The bar is an institution in Chicago having opened in 1982, a few years before I arrived in Chicago. Its owners Art and Pepe are also instituions, helping lead many of the LGBTQ fights for rights
May 19 Mony says that the little library is not Unitarian, but it is hosted by the Second Unitarian Church. There is a much bigger library inside, but she checked out the books here as we all left today's service.
May 18 Actually it wasn't the first farmers' market in Evanston this year. That was a couple of weeks ago. But since we were out of town the past two weekends, it was the first one for us. I love the Spring vegtables: spinich, spring onions, green garlic, and
May 17 Today was our first shift as Piping Plover Monitors at Montrose Beach. We have a weekly two hour shift on Friday afternoons - so this is surely not going to be the only photo this summer from Montrose Beach, and I am sure I will post more about the Piping
May 16 It was raining when I ran out to run some errands. There were a few people out with umbrellas, but she opted to hideout from the rain by using the Library window for shelter. This is one of the rare occassions when none of the earlier photos have any people!
May 15 There has been a lot of wind at the lakefront, which means a lot of blowing sand (and lots of other things). This is not the only day when we visited Motrose beach to find park district workers shoveling sand.
May 13 This photo reminds me of several others that I have taken over the years – mostly janitors or other service workers. If I had more time and a better system – I could add them here. Maybe some time in the future.
May 12 To celebrate Mothers' Day we joined half of Oak Park standing in line at Hole in the Wall. Thirty minutes later (give mor take), we had our ice cream!
May 11 My nephew Mitch was married today. The ceremony was held in his newly built garage, and I have many photos from there and the reception. This one I liked the best. My parents were just arriving and are looking so good. Later in the evening they even danced at the
May 10 Lucy's Place has been the LGBTQ bar in Johnstown since the mid 1970's. The bar itself has been there much longer, maybe once The New Yorker or the Rathskeller. I had long know about it, but never went there until Mony and I visted Johnstown in
May 9 The only direct flight to Johnstown is late in the evening, and the gate was as far away as you can get. The plane is small, so all of the bags need to be checked. So, I am guessing this is the assignment you get when you have no seniority.
May 8 It was Equality Illinois's Advocacy Day in Sprinfield where over a hundred Queer activists went to "speak up" to our state legislators. There were a lot of photos to choose from today, but none were as much fun as this one. Equality Illinois leaders were in
May 6 I am taking photos and do hope to catch things up soon. Back in Chicago. Not sure what it is that causes kids to jump to try to reach things – but this kid set his backpack down for the jump.
May 5 Day 3 of Jazz Fest – and the final day. We ended listening to Bonnie Raitt – which was a perfect ending to some great music. And as she neared the end of the set, the Clean Krewe began the clean up.
May 4 Day 2 of Jazz Fest. I have no idea why anyone would want to bring a child to Jazz Fest – but at least for the moment they seem very interested in something in addition to the ice cream.
May 3 Day 1 of Jazz Fest. We now of the hang of Jazz Fest – where to go, where not to go, how long it takes to get from one place to another, and how to take breaks from the heat. Here, she demonstrates how to care of your plate of food
May 2 We made a mistake with the time of our reservation and a little bit of rain seated us at the oyster bar. We quickly learned that it was definitely the best seat of the house. No sooner than we sat down then the oyster shucker who is pictured here werved
May 1 In 2021, Mony and I traveled to New Orleans – our first real vacation together and the first flight since COVID. We wanted to go out for a swamp tour, and Louisiana Lost Lands Environmental Tours was recommended to me. John was going to be our tour guide, but big storms
April 30 After flying in the morning and working most of the day, we enjoyed live music in the evening – since that is one of the reasons we came!
April 29 Great sun today and as the weather is nicer, there are so many more people out an about and the windows and outside dining were open. Sometimes when I watch people, I wonder what the story is. I never know if they story I read has any relation to reality.
April 28 Yes, we are going out and looking for birds every day! Today was cool and foggy so not quite so many birds, but lots of birders, cameras, and big lenses.
April 27 It was a beautiful, warm spring day with lots of migrating birds. But birds cannot be the photo every day, so here is some of the people at Montrose.
April 26 The fun part of the day was going to see Janneane Garofalo, but I don't have any photos from there, so it was the rainy day instead.
