The American Avocet is one of my favorite birds. (I have many birds that are favorites!) I love its colors but especially its upturned beak. We have seen a few when we were birdwatching in Texas and a single avocet at Montrose beach last year, but never in a group like this. They fly through Chicago – and we usually find out about them after they are gone. But today we heard that they were at Montrose – so off we went and here they are!

On my way walking to buy coffee at the small shop that roasts their own beans, then to the Library to pick up a couple of books that I had on hold, then to the grocery store and pet store for a few things. By the time I got home I filled my backpack and camera bag. This is what you can do when you have time.2016:Walking home from the Jewel.
