April 15

Everytime we go to the Montrose Bird Sanctuary, Mony has a pocketful of seeds for the birds. The chickadees are pretty dependable – they almost always show up for a treat. But the cardinals and red winged blackbirds are much more wary and it takes much more patience to get them to come. This cardinal not only came, but must have sat on Mony's hand for a couple of minutes, eating one seed after another. Sometimes my timing is off and I don't get a good photo – but there was no missing this one.
